Stockyards Restaurant and 1889 Saloon delivers in more ways than one. The Stockyards Restaurant & 1889 Saloon offers something a bit different. The Phoenix-area steakhouse doesn’t just pay homage to the wild wild west. It actually was part of the wild west. Stockyards, which is considered an Arizona landmark, was once located nextdoor to the largest feedlot in the world. It is even on the National Registrar of Historic Places and the City of Phoenix Historical Registrar. There are no sweeping views, floorto- ceiling windows or high-end furnishings. Instead, you’ll get rustic chandeliers, a gorgeous pressedtin ceiling and 50’s-era murals on the walls. The restaurant delivers a peek at the days of yore–with great, hearty food to top it off. Restored in 2005, this Phoenix landmark sends out old Arizona vibes. So does most of the menu. There are, of course, “calf fries.” There are also juicy grilled steaks, such as the Kansas City strip and “baseball cut” of top sirloin. Alternatives such as calf liver with caramelized onions and cornmeal-crusted trout are also on the menu. The homemade root beer float, jacked up with Jack Daniels, sends you home happy. Phoenix landmark steakhouse for more than 60 years, the Stockyards Restaurant and 1889 Saloon lets diners revel in a gorgeous, retro setting. The experience is current and top-quality, though, with well-priced, aged steaks, seafood and wild game complete with all the sides. The Stockyards Restaurant and 1889 Saloon, Arizona’s Original Steakhouse, has been serving the best hand-cut aged steaks and prime rib for over 60 years. The menu also features wild game, pork, poultry and seafood.
