As a fourth generation winemaker, Dennis Minchella is determined to carry on his families’ labor of love by offering wine, annual festivities and Mediterranean inspired cuisine and at Kokopelli Winery & Bistro. The Minchella family history is rich with tradition and warmth-a feeling that is shared with everyone who walks through their doors. As a way to celebrate in the history of winemaking and community, Kokopelli Winery & Bistro hosts the 10th annual Kokopelli Krush on October 21-23, 2011.

This year, Kokopelli Krush will feature a special event-the one millionth wine bottle opening. The bottle opening ceremony will honor Dennis’s parents, Don and Carol Minchella who founded Kokopelli Winery in 1993. When Kokopelli Winery moved to Chandler in 2011 it was the first business to open in Historic Downtown Chandler after the bank closed. Kokopelli Krush is the longest running and most decorated annual wine event in Arizona, allowing the Minchella family to welcome the community and celebrate with fun and festivities.

Running over the course of an entire weekend, Kokopelli Krush is a family friendly event packed with live entertainment, games, a kid’s play area, competitions and a steady flow of wine and beer. Get ready to Krush the competition in teams of two can compete daily for a chance to win prizes including bottles of wine and gift cards. Three teams from each heat will have a chance to advance to the championship round. The grand prize team will win a cruise for two-it’s all smooth sailing from there. Krush teams can pre-register online for $10 or at the door for $15.

Prizes and awards will also be handed out for best Krush style and costume so, dress to impress in the spirit of Krush. Admission to Kokopelli Krush is $10 and includes one drink ticket or an Arizona wine tasting. Purchase tickets in advance at Kokopelli Winery and Bistro, located at 35 West Boston Street, Chandler (two blocks south of Chandler Boulevard, just west of Arizona Avenue.) Kokopelli Krush is brought to you by Marriott Courtyard, Chandler Center of the Arts, Big Two Toyota, DiSciacca Glassware and Hensley. A percentage of the proceeds from Kokopelli Krush will go to benefit ICAN, a Chandler based community organization supporting youth programs that build self-confidence and healthy decision making skills.
