Bobbie Thomas ‘Embraces’ Venus ‘Spa Breeze’

Recently, E! Entertainment red carpet Hostess and Today Show style consultant Bobbie Thomas was in Phoenix to promote the new Venus Spa Breeze disposable women’s razor, and some other health and beauty items that comprise her fresh summer message of ‘Double Duty Beauty’. “I love products and messages that empower women; there are so few brands when you mention it, people say, ‘Oh, I love those!’- I get positive feedback wherever I go,” she says of Venus Spa Breeze, the first disposable razors with shave gel bars. “I’m so grateful I get to do this. Venus as a whole is extremely inventive and interactive. They really ask consumers what their ideas are and have their finger on the pulse of what modern women are interested in.” “I am in a unique position because I am pitched hundreds of products each year. “I believe in this product because it is the best in field, and at the end of the day, you get what they claim. Men have all this technology in razors; it’s their territory in the market, it seems. For women, it’s great to know a company is researching a product that you use for more of your body than men do. They have figured out what’s going to be useful to women, and it turns an everyday experience into something special; you’re getting a little spa experience in your shower. Even in a down economy, there are certain ‘affordable indulgences’ that women deserve to treat themselves to. For women, I want to bring them the latest and greatest. It’s not about $500 lip gloss, it’s about getting back to basics.” “A year of waxing can run $800 a year if not more; with the Venus Spa Breeze or the Venus Embrace, you can make your life easier by just upgrading your razor and not spending a lot. It’s a ‘pick me up you can pick up’. You just have to add water. Look, your skin is the largest organ in your body; soft, sexy legs are a huge plus. Guys love soft skin. And neither razor is limited to indoor use. You can bring a bottle of water on a camping trip and be glamorous in the woods. 4 refills cost you about $12. For one year, you’re spending about $50, which is one half the cost of a facial or a salon treatment.” Next Week: Bobbie’s ‘Double Duty Beauty’ for the Modern Woman

Shop for the Whales!

Tempe & Phoenix- Save the whales while shopping for hip used clothing at a bargain! In celebration of Earth Day, all proceeds from Buffalo Exchange’s Dollar Day Sale benefit The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), the nation’s largest animal protection organization. All sale items offered for one dollar each at your local Buffalo Exchange on April 25th will go to the ‘Save Whales-Not Whaling’ campaign of The HSUS and its international arm, Humane Society International. Earth Day benefits at Buffalo Exchange stores have raised nearly $249,000 for environmental causes since 1997. “Save the Whales” isn’t just a slogan. It’s the goal of the ‘Save Whales- Not Whaling’ campaign. It’s hard to believe, but there are countries that still want to kill whales. There’s simply no need. Not only does whaling pose devastating threats to whale populations, but it is extremely cruel. HSUS/HSI arms pro-whale countries with the legal and scientific arguments they need to be able to stop the slaughter in their waters, and faces opponents at the International Whaling Commission meetings, where the fate of whales is debated and decided. HSUS/HSI work to enforce the policies that protect whales, and reverse the cruel policies of some governments that would end that protection. Buffalo Exchange is a sustainable company that works to protect the environment by reusing and recycling clothing. It donates to local nonprofit agencies in the community through its Tokens for Bags(r) program, which has generated over $300,000 for hundreds of nonprofits since 1994, saving 6 million bags. Shoppers are encouraged to accept a token instead of a bag for purchases, and Buffalo Exchange donates five cents to a charity of the customer’s choice. Buffalo Exchange is unique because clothing and accessories are bought, sold and traded directly with store customers. Used clothes can be traded for any item in the store, including jewelry and brand new clothing. The ever-changing inventory includes designer wear, basics, vintage, jeans, leather and one-ofa- kind items. For more, visit www.buffaloexchange.com..

Hollywood’s Trendsetters Give Us Different Looks
Written by Christine Capuano on Thursday, 02 April 2009 19:04

Christine CapuanoEver since the new millennium began, it seems as if almost anything in fashion is acceptable. Sure, there are still the notorious fashion faux pas that we all try our very best to avoid, but for the most part, as long as you manage to dress in some variation of what A-list celebrities wear to recent red carpet events or styles that emanate from the pages of current issues of In Style magazine, you should be safe! But how do you know what celebrities to pay attention to and who to simply look away from when their pictures are displayed? If you’re one of those ladies who likes to play it safe and look classy without standing out in a crowd, you’re in luck. For over the past decade, Jennifer Aniston has graced the pages of multiple “Best Dressed” lists for her effortlessly chic style. Aniston is never one to dress over the top or take risks when it comes to her outfit choices, and you will rarely find her wearing anything outside of her usual neutral-colored, tailored wardrobe.

Despite her overall conventional approach to fashion, however, she usually manages to look absolutely stunning. For those girls who aren’t afraid to dress with a little more edge and show their ‘inner rock stars’, you have Gwen Stefani to look up to. Gwen has always had a unique style that resulted in her very own fashion line, L.A.M.B. Marilyn Monroe would be proud that her iconic signature platinum blonde locks & red lip stick lives on through Stefani’s similar look. She has managed to constantly mix her natural “home-girl” vibe with timeless 1940s Hollywood glamour. You never know what to expect from Gwen, and that is half the fun of it! To mimic a style as evolutionary as Gwen’s, you can try mixing your boyfriend’s jeans with a funky graphic tee-shirt and top it off with bright red lipstick! To accessorize you can try matching aviators with a fedora. As for shoes, don’t be shy; Gwen is all about adding eye-popping stand out colors to accent her look. Try either a red or a bright yellow pump to catch everyone’s attention. This look is to be worn by girls who aren’t afraid to be the next trendsetter and take chances!

Talent Agent Profile

Aimee Sugar of S.I.M.
Agency www.sim-agency.com

You were a past model yourself, before becoming an agent, correct? Who were you signed with? Yes I modeled as a child in California and as a teenage locally here. I never signed with an agency, though.

How did you come to the decision of starting up your own agency? I like to be in charge...I’m very ‘OCD’ and like things done a certain way; I don’t like answering to anyone else.

What vision do you have for Arizona fashion in the next 5-10 years? Definitely more runway shows and higher-end print jobs and catalogs coming into town. AZ is such a beautiful state, more catalogs need to shoot here....well, not in the summer though!

What do you believe sets S.I.M. apart from other Arizona agencies? We are much more of a personal relationship type agency. We really know our models, and most of the time their mothers/boyfriends/kids, etc. We hug, too.

What do you look for when signing new talent?
Looks fi rst, then talent, then personality. If they don’t have all 3, it’s a no go. I am very big on feeling peoples’ energy. If I don’t feel a connection when I fi rst meet them, I don’t sign them.

Have you had to drop models before?
If so, why? Oh, yeah; continuously being late to jobs or not showing up on a job. I run a tight ship; I do not put up with unprofessionalism, and that is why we have a stellar reputation.

Where do you feel Arizona ranks as far as being a ‘fashion capital’? Well, we are no LA or NYC, but we are slowly emerging. Getting stores like Barneys is a great start!
