Temecula, California; a suburb of Los Angeles out in the Inland Empire. In Temecula lies Selleck Motors, a family owned dealership struggling to move vehicles. Threatened with closure form the bank, the owner (James Brolin) calls on the one man who can get the inventory out the door, Don Ready (played by Jeremy Piven). Ready and his team of “guns for hire” travel the country assisting ailing dealerships move cars through high-pressure tactics, sneaky tricks, creative marketing, flashy inflatable balloons and scantily clad greeters. Ready and team is in Flagstaff, Arizona when the call comes out. Still healing from an unexplained incident in the ‘querque (that’s Albuquerque), the group decides to accept the challenge and heads west. The gang hits Temecula with a bang and promises to sell every last automobile before the weekend is over to stop the bank from taking possession. They also vow to prevent a sleazy import dealership owner (Alan Thicke) from buying the property so his middleaged son (Ed Helms) and his “man” band can perform in the empty space. The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard delivers more true laughs than any other film this summer, including The Hangover, which share many of the same cast members. The humor, while crude, racist and downright offensive never fails to entertain or incite a laugh out loud moment. Piven couldn’t be more perfectly cast, and his screenmates, David Koechner, Kathryn Hahn and Ving Rhames help make the movie.
