Johnny Mathis at Symphony Hall Sun., Jan. 17th
Pacific Arts is proud to present legendary singer Johnny Mathis in concert at 5 p.m. time on Sunday, January 17th at Symphony Hall. With more than 350 million records sold, three Grammy Awards and thirty top-50 singles to his name, Johnny Mathis, 74, is one of America’s most enduring and best-loved pop singers. Some of his hit songs include “Chances Are,” “It’s Not for Me to Say,” “Wonderful! Wonderful!,” “Misty,” “Too Much, Too Little, Too Late” (with Deniece Williams) and “Friends in Love” (with Dionne Warwick). A Night to Remember is his latest album on SonyBMG. Mathis has set many precedents in the music industry. In 1958, two years after being signed by Columbia Records, the record company released his fourth album, called it, Johnny’s Greatest Hits, and thus began a “Greatest Hits” tradition copied by every other record company since then. Johnny’s Greatest Hits went on to become one of the most popular albums of all time, and spent an unprecedented 490 continuous weeks on the Billboard Top Albums Chart, a record that has been noted in the Guinness Book Of World Records. Tickets ($79 and $89) are available at the Phoenix Convention Center’s Box Office, located at 100 N. 3rd St., between Monroe and Washington, or by calling 602.262.7272. Symphony Hall is located at 225 E. Adams Street, Phoenix, AZ 85004.
