Calvin Harris at Myst
Some may even passionately argue that our young nation produces the best music available, however, there is one genre we have yet to fully conquer and that’s electronic dance music. Yay for those Europeans who know what’s up when it comes to making people go wild on the dance floor.
With the genius mixing skills of Scottish DJ, Calvin Harris, and the talented, Rihanna, people all over the world are finding love in hopeless places (a.k.a. drunkenly making out with some hot random on a sweaty dance floor while grinding to that song—oooohh you dirty, dirty boys and girls). It’s such a catchy tune until it becomes tired after all the plays on the radio. Hey, 101.5, would you guys slow down on playing that song for a while?! Please and thank you.
But I guess that’s what happens when a song lives at the top of international charts for some 8 consecutive weeks. Good for them and good for us.
The great Calvin Harris is also known for hits, “Feel so Close” and “You Used to Hold Me”–we’re talking about millions of YouTube plays here, which deserves more than a booth at Myst, if you ask me. BUT yes to that as well because it means no under-aged kiddies boppin’ about and cheap tickets.
The only downside to this is that it’s on Sunday so it may mean planning on getting sick on Monday or drinking a gallon of water before going to bed. Sunday, January 29th. 9 pm – 2 am. Scottsdale. www.insomniac.com. $25 – $55. Ages 21+
