Always walking a fine line between rock, blues and jazz, virtuoso guitarist Jeff Beck is captured on his first dvd ever in the intimate setting of Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club to perform predominantly his 70’s era material. Truly one of music’s most respected guitarists, Beck rolls through such trademarks as “Beck’s Bolero”, “Goodbye Pork Pie Hat”, “Cause We’ve Ended As Lovers” along with an instrumental version of The Beatles “A Day In The Life”. They are executed with such brilliance and feeling it’s no wonder why Beck is so well respected and consider by many to be a legend. His playing is enhanced (if that’s even possible) by the musicianship of Vinnie Colaiuta (drums), Jason Rebello (keyboards) and Tal Wilkenfield (bass), or perhaps the other way around. Joining Beck for guest spots are Joss Stone who turns in an incredible version of “People Get Ready” and Eric Clapton on “Little Brown Bird” and “You Need Love”. With 21 tunes in all and interviews, this one is worth the admission price. If you’re not familiar enough with his playing other than the occasional guest spot, this is a perfect introduction to what music fans have known for years: his playing exudes class, feeling, melody, reckless abandon, masterful musicianship and sheer execution of the guitar that no one can match.
